Sophomore year already started, and here I am with this article and three more freshman course review articles lol
Hola y bienvenidos a Espanol 3; tengo muchas cosas a hablar sobre- the second class of the third trimester of my freshman year of high school was definitely eventful. Hay dos unidades en Espanol 3- one for clothes/fashion and another for water- both talk a bit too much about the environment for some reason…
If I’m being honest, this class was literally the exact same structure as Spanish 2 since we had the same teachers, only we learned different grammar concepts, it was slightly more difficult, and also our units were of different topics.
Here’s a quick rundown of the curriculum:
Unit 1 was all about fashion, and clothing, but it was really more about the environment. We spent a lot of time talking about shopping, fashion, clothing, and whatever, but my group isn’t really into… pretty much anything teens do, so we didn’t really think much for this. A lot of the unit was involved around shopping and we spent an indescribable amount of time searching up shops in the Spanish-speaking world. There was a huge discussion on the production of clothes and its effects on el medio ambiente. Fue la mayoria de la unidad, y Espanol tres en general.
We had a lot of shopping related projects compared to this one, such as that time we had to create our own shop and essentially simulated a market in the classroom for a whole week.
The second unit focused on… drumroll please… water. Literally, just a month and a half yapping about water. No joke – I didn’t think I’d be entertained at all for the whole last part of the school year.. But surprisingly, it was good! It showed water in every form possible- in an environmental sense, a sense of routine (Ex. in the shower) and in this really interesting thing called virtual water, which basically quantifies the water needed to make various products- we had to do quite a lot with that, and it’s a way of seeing water that I’ve never thought of before. Whoever came up with that is a genius.
One interesting project from this unit in my opinion was the water product project final, where we had to make our own water related product for the class. After a lot of really interesting ideas that we brainstormed (they got wild) we finally found our choice: a filter at the bottom of a shower which cleans out the water and allows you to reuse it over and over.
What do I think of this course?
Not bad. Just be a bit careful that you don’t neglect it, because that cost me quite a bit this time around (Still got an A though.)
